Rebuilding the Bridge with San Francisco Abidjan Officials to Brief the Press on Efforts to Strengthen Cooperation

Officials from Abidjan will brief members of the media on their mission last month to the United States to strengthen the sister city relationship between the Ivoirian economic capital and San Francisco, California, during a press conference at the American Embassy on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at 9:30AM.

The Deputy Governor of Abidjan, Samuel Mobio will present projects that are being planned to improve Abidjan’s health, business, and cultural sectors.  This reinforced cooperation comes as the American Embassy is planning an extraordinary gala to celebrate the special connection between the two cities.

“We hope that this gala will help to advance these important efforts to increase exchanges and development initiatives between San Francisco and Abidjan,” said the Embassy’s Gala Coordinator Linda McMullen.  “These dynamic cities have a tremendous amount gain from each other and can jointly work to grow into global capitals of commerce, culture, and collaboration.  The prominence of this evening can help to bring attention and support to the work that officials from Abidjan and San Francisco have already been deeply engaged in to achieve these goals.”

The Embassy’s gala, “Lights of San Francisco,” will take place on Saturday, September 9, 2006, and will include celebrated American singer Tori Robinson and popular Ivoirian artist Oren’Tchy.
